This is not legal advice and it is not a legal document. It is a skeleton showing what belongs on this page. It must be replaced with terms drafted or reviewed by the house's own attorney before the site takes a real bid. Shipping software with plausible-sounding legal text is worse than shipping it with none, because a plausible page stops anybody asking.
Two different documents
This page governs your use of this website. Each auction has its own conditions of sale, which you accept when you register for that auction, and which govern the sale itself — premium, tax, payment, removal and default. Where the two disagree about a sale, the sale's own terms win.
Your account
One account per person or business. You are responsible for what happens under it, including bids placed by anyone you gave your password to. Tell us immediately if you think somebody else is using it.
We may suspend or close an account that is used to bid without intending to pay, to interfere with a sale, or to harass staff or other bidders.
Bids are binding
A bid is an offer to buy at that price, and a winning bid forms a contract. Bids cannot be retracted. Proxy bids are placed by the system on your behalf up to the maximum you set and are as binding as anything you type yourself.
Descriptions and photographs
We describe lots carefully and in good faith. Everything is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. Weights, dimensions, model numbers and counts are estimates unless the description says they were measured.
When something goes wrong at our end
Auctions run on software and software fails. We may extend, pause, reopen or cancel a lot or an entire sale where a technical fault has affected the result, and we will say publicly when we do. [THE HOUSE'S LIABILITY LIMIT GOES HERE, IN THE ATTORNEY'S WORDS.]
The content on this site
Catalogue text and photographs are ours. Do not scrape, republish or feed them to somebody else's listing site. Automated access that degrades the site for bidders will be blocked.

Changes
We may update these terms. The date at the top of this page is when they last changed, and the version in force for a sale is the one published when that sale closed.
